Trains to Medway

Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham, and Rainham are collectively known as the Medway Towns. Rich in history, the area has attracted Normans, pilgrims and kings and queens over the centuries, as well as inspiring some of the greatest men in history.

Getting here: If you are getting a train to Medway has five main rail stations: Strood, Rochester, Chatham, Gillingham and Rainham. All these stations have frequent services from London Victoria and Charing Cross. Highspeed trains also link Medway to St Pancras International in just 35 minutes.

The Historic Dockyard Chatham

Dickens Country

Charles Dickens spent most of his childhood in Chatham. He returned to near Rochester for the final years of his life when he was an established author and based many of his novels on the area.
