If the waves aren’t cooperating try paddle-boarding instead. The windswept coves around Greatstone, Minnis Bay and Romney Marsh down the coast from Folkestone are a kite surfer’s paradise. Broadstairs

Herne Bay

Relax on the beach in a deckchair, stroll down the pier and look out for the historic Clock Tower in the seaside town of Herne Bay. Play a round of mini golf on the seafront, or head towards Whitstable for stunning coastal views at Long Rock. Herne Bay is located along the Oyster Bay Trail which stretches for a total 6.7 miles between Whitstable and Reculver. Head east along the coast and reach the imposing Reculver Towers, the remains of the Roman fort built in the 12th Century. Explore Reculver Country Park surrounding the towers and discover a wide variety of plants and wildlife.
