We support the community

Southeastern is proud to support the local communities in our network through partnerships, sponsorships and community outreach. We’re currently finding new ways to extend our service beyond our stations and transform lives.

The Kent Community Rail Partnership (Kent CRP) exists to bring together widely varied partners in order to provide social, economic and environmental benefits to the communities served by rural and secondary rail services. The partnership covers the Swale Line Sheerness-on-sea to Sittingbourne, and the Medway Valley Line Tonbridge to Strood via Maidstone West.

We have supported this important initiative for many years. In June 2015 we pledged a further £120,000 years for the three year period up to June 2018 – providing a 60% increase in funding.

Working with our local communities

Last year, we were involved with more than 80 community-led projects, helping to organise teams and provide funding or volunteer work.

Our community initiatives include:

  • Local gardening schemes at stations
  • Adopt-a-station initiatives
  • Community noticeboards
  • Rail safety talks and tours for schools and nurseries
  • Book clubs to raise money for local charities

Please contact us at community@southeasternrailway.co.uk for all external enquiries.

Annual Stakeholder survey

Our annual stakeholder survey is conducted using an external, independent agency, who use random sampling fieldwork to take a snapshot of stakeholder sentiment and feedback towards Southeastern.

This feedback helps us understand and identify areas where Southeastern is performing well and any areas where improvement is needed. The survey’s results are used as a basis for our annual stakeholder engagement planning, to enable us to continue improving relationships with our key stakeholders and ensure that we are addressing the issues which matter to them the most.
