We know a bit of good news goes a long way, however big or small it may be. So, we wanted to let you know that we're continuing to make improvements across our network.

From sprucing up our trains and many of our stations to make your journey nicer, to improving the network to minimise delays.

Little by little, we’re investing in making your journey with us better.

We’re working together to deliver £311m of investment across the South East to help keep your trains on time

We’ve been working together with Network Rail to deliver over £311m in renewing and enhancing the rail infrastructure across our network over the last year, and more is coming this year.

This investment helps to keep trains on time and is one of many projects within the South Eastern Railway to improve the network and minimise delays.

New track cameras prevented over 200 hours of delays last year, and more are coming this year

Following a successful trial with Network Rail which prevented over 200 hours of delays last year, we’re fitting even more thermal imaging cameras to some of our trains.

These special cameras check the infrastructure along the track for potential issues, meaning faults can be fixed before they cause delays.

The new cameras mean that more routes and trains across South-East London, Kent and parts of East Sussex will be covered by this technology.

New flood warning camera technology is here to help keep your trains running safely and reliably during severe weather

We’re trialling new flood warning camera technology at five high-risk locations across our network to help keep trains running safely and reliably during severe weather.
The five trial locations – Wadhurst, Hildenborough, Lower Sydenham, Sevenoaks and Selling Tunnel – have been selected based on historic flooding incidents and their impact on trains running on time.

The cameras offer 24/7 monitoring and can send early warning alerts, so our teams can respond proactively to rising water levels and potential drainage issues, helping to avoid line closures and keep your journey on track.

Move more freely with improved accessibility across some stations on our network

Get around easier in one of our four new lifts at Hither Green station, coming next year as part of a major project to significantly improve accessibility and provide step-free access at the station.

Work is underway to install a new accessible ticket office window, footbridge, four new lifts and staircases, widening of platforms and new accessible station entrances.

And as part of our ongoing commitment to making our stations as accessible as possible, we’re installing new or replacement handrails at Blackheath and Lewisham, with automatic doors also being added to the accessible toilet at Bexley, new stair treads at Chislehurst, new accessible seating at Petts Wood and Plumstead, a refurbished accessible toilet at Swanley, and a new accessible ticket office window at New Cross.

New stair climbers will also be coming to Bromley South, Lewisham, Dartford, Orpington and London Bridge to ensure stations remain accessible during lift maintenance and failures.

We’re committed to improving accessibility in a variety of ways, and have launched a series of upgrades to our app and online journey planner to make it easier to plan accessible journeys. This includes a step-free journey planner as well as an in-app Passenger Assistance booking tool.
