Catchin' trains to catch some rays

This summer, we are providing more carriages on busy routes to the coast, and once on board you will find that fresh air flows through all of our trains from air conditioning, vents or windows you can open if you need to.

You may still find trains are busier on warm days this week as people head out to cool off at the seaside. Our popular destinations are Margate, Hastings, Broadstairs, Folkestone, Herne Bay, Whitstable, Canterbury and Gillingham.

Trains can be busy towards the coast from 1030 to 1330 and returning between 1600 to 1900, so avoid these times if you can. You can use our handy SeatFinder tools to find the quietest trains.

Very hot weather can have an impact on our services so please, remember to check before you travel and carry water with you to stay hydrated during your journey. You can keep up-to-date on our service disruption page, our WhatsApp channel or by following us on X or BlueSky.

In our "Metro" area, our "City Beam" trains have air conditioning, you can find out which services are scheduled to be this train type by checking our online timetables. If you sign-up for journey alerts through our app or website, we'll let you know if there's any changes.

Engineering work is taking place this Saturday & Sunday, affecting trains between Charing Cross and London Bridge.

There will be no Southeastern trains at Charing Cross or Waterloo East, and trains will run to & from Cannon Street, London Bridge & Blackfriars* instead..

You may use your ticket at no extra cost on London Underground services between Charing Cross, Embankment, Waterloo, Southwark, London Bridge, Blackfriars. Elephant & Castle and Cannon Street.

No Southeastern services via Lewisham on Sunday 19 July

Engineering work is taking place at Lewisham and the station and the Bexleyheath Line will be closed.

Bexleyheath Line: Trains between London Victoria and Dartford / Gravesend will not run. Services between London Cannon Street and Slade Green via Bexleyheath will be diverted to run via Sidcup and will not stop at Lewisham.

Hayes Line: Trains between London Cannon Street and Hayes will not stop at Lewisham. These trains are running to / from London Cannon Street because of further engineering work.

Sidcup Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Dartford via Sidcup will not stop at Lewisham. These trains are running to / from London Cannon Street because of further engineering work.

Grove Park Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Sevenoaks will not call at Lewisham. These trains are running to / from London Cannon Street because of further engineering work.

Accessible replacement buses will run between:

New Cross and Dartford via Bexleyheath calling at all stations

Engineering work is taking place between London Charing Cross and London Bridge, and London Charing Cross and London Waterloo East, lines will be closed all weekend.

No trains will run to / from London Charing Cross or London Waterloo East all weekend.

Saturday:

Paddock Wood Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Ramsgate / Dover Priory via Tonbridge will be amended to run to / from London Bridge.

Hastings Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Hastings will run to / from London Bridge.

Grove Park Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Sevenoaks via Grove Park will run to / from London Bridge.

Maidstone East Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Maidstone East will run to / from London Victoria, calling additionally at Bromley South.

Sidcup Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Gravesend via Sidcup will run to / from London Bridge. Trains which usually only run between London Charing Cross and Dartford via Sidcup will run to / from London Cannon Street.

Bexleyheath Line: Trains between London Charing Cross and Dartford via Bexleyheath will run to / from London Bridge.

Hayes Line: Two trains per hour will run between London Bridge and Hayes, and two trains per hour will run between London Blackfriars and Hayes via Lewisham, calling additionally at Elephant & Castle. Until approximately 09:30 and from approximately 23:00 until the end of service; these trains will run to / from London Victoria instead of London Blackfriars.

Sunday:
