    Full details
    Hide details

On days or weeks when leaf-fall is at its highest and rails are most slippery, Southeastern will need to introduce a different timetable on some routes. This is to make sure they can get you where you need to be with the minimum of delay.

Conditions are expected to be particularly challenging this week and Southeastern will be running a revised timetable until the end of service on Friday 27 October, particularly during off-peak periods.

Longer term changes

Travelling at the weekend

Throughout the programme, different services will be impacted on some weekends and bank holidays, for the latest information visit Journey Planner to see the full impact on your journey.

During periods of time when London Charing Cross / London Cannon Street are closed, you'll be able to use your ticket on selective alternative routes to complete your journey at no extra charge. For full details visit Southeastern. Please note the ticket acceptance detailed for weekend engineering work may differ from the Monday to Friday Thameslink Programme ticket acceptance outlined below.

Longer term changes

Thameslink services which run through central London will not call at London Bridge, however there will be a limited service between London Bridge and Brighton.

Southeastern

Until January 2018

Most trains to and from London Charing Cross are able to stop at London Bridge again. As a result, there are some changes to ticket acceptance arrangements from Monday 4 September.

Trains to and from London Cannon Street will no longer be able to stop at London Bridge.

During this time, it is recommended that you consider changing your normal journey to work as the number of trains running will be reduced and are likely to be very busy.

For a full list of major service changes visit key dates and service changes.

Planning your Journey

For full details of these changes and the impact on your journey, please use the National Rail Enquiries Journey Planner

Alternative routes and travel advice

The impact on your journey will depend on the particular services that you currently use to get to and from London Bridge and what alternatives exist. Travel advice is as detailed below:

  • Change the train you catch from your home station to go direct to your national rail destination. For example switching from a London Charing Cross service to a London Cannon Street service. This may involve shifting the time that you travel, but in many cases only by a few minutes
  • If getting a different train from home is not possible, we advise you to change trains en route outside London, for example at Lewisham, Orpington, Sevenoaks or Hither Green, to get to your final destination

If you are unable to complete your journey by interchanging on National Rail services outside London, you may need to use TfL services. If you have a Travelcard you may use any route covered by your ticket. Otherwise, there are specific alternative routes. For full details click here.

  • Between London Cannon Street and Charing Cross/Embankment on the District/Circle lines and on bus 15 between Cannon Street and Charing Cross
  • Between Elephant & Castle and London Bridge on the Northern line and on buses 35, 40, 133 and 343 between Elephant & Castle and London Bridge
  • Between Blackfriars and London Bridge via Embankment and Waterloo and on buses 17 (from Blackfriars north entrance) or 381 and RV1 (from Blackfriars south entrance) between Blackfriars and London Bridge
  • Between Cannon Street and London Bridge on District/Circle/Northern lines
  • Between Cannon Street and London Bridge on bus services 17 and 521
  • Greenwich line passengers can use the DLR between Greenwich and Lewisham, changing there for a Southeastern service to London Bridge, or can use Southeastern services via Charlton

Thameslink passengers from the south of London (with a 'Thameslink only' ticket), whose final destination is currently London Bridge should change at Elephant & Castle or London Blackfriars for onward travel to London Bridge where tickets will be accepted on London Underground or eligible buses between Elephant & Castle and London Bridge and between Blackfriars and London Bridge.

To check for future disruptions visit the planned engineering works page.
