Travel Off-Peak and save

Our Off-Peak train tickets offer great savings on journeys outside of the busiest travel times, every day of the week.

On weekends and Bank Holidays, you can travel at any time with an off-peak ticket.

On weekdays mornings time restrictions apply with some afternoon time restrictions, in the extended Pay as You Go area.

If you are travelling from Kent & East Sussex into London, Off-Peak tickets are valid on trains that arrive into London after 10am*.
If you are travelling from London to Kent & East Sussex, Off-Peak tickets are valid on trains departing from London after 9.30am.
If you are travelling entirely within the London Travelcard Zones 1-6 area, Off-Peak tickets are valid on trains departing after 9.30am.

*Exceptions apply to a few services arriving prior to 10.00am dependent on the type of Off-Peak ticket please check our journey planner before you travel.

There are four different types of Off-Peak tickets to choose from:

Off-Peak Single – valid for one journey on any Off-Peak train
Off-Peak Day Return – valid for one day on Off-Peak trains with the return journey on the same day
Off-Peak Return – the return journey must be made within one calendar month on an Off-Peak train
Super Off-Peak – valid for travel after 10am Monday to Friday and anytime at weekends or Bank Holidays. Visit our Super Off-Peak ticket page for more info.

Plus, you could get another 1/3 off the price if you are a railcard holder or take advantage of our other discount tickets valid for Off-Peak journeys.

Buy your Off-Peak ticket from a station ticket office any time before you travel. Or, for convenience why not use our contactless smartcard The Key. You can buy tickets via the Southeastern app or online, load them to your Key card, tap and go.

Alternatively, buy your tickets via the Southeastern app or website and you can collect your tickets from a self-service machine at a Southeastern station within 5 minutes – you just need to bring any payment card and the collection reference number provided in your order confirmation.

When are Off-Peak tickets available?

Can I change my Off-Peak ticket?

Off-Peak tickets are non-amendable. If you'd like to make changes to your journey, you'd need to purchase new tickets and apply for a refund on the original. You have a period of 28 days after the date of travel to apply for any refund.

If you purchased your original ticket online, it has not been printed and you would like to apply for a refund, please sign into your online account, go to 'my bookings', view the booking in question and follow the refund procedure from there.

If your ticket was purchased online or at a station and it has been printed, we would ask that you post them to our Customer Services team at the address below:

If the refund is requested before the date of travel printed on the ticket, Southeastern will refund in full and no admin fees apply. If the refund is requested after the date of travel printed on the ticket, a £5 admin fee applies.
