    Travel information

Here's some questions and answers for some things you might like to know before you travel

Real time toilet availability information, including accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities, is available through the Live Departures and Arrivals feature in the Southeastern app.

Download it through the App Store or Google Play.

Our carriages have a scrolling ‘Passenger Information Screen’ that lets you know your train’s calling stations.

There will also be an on-board announcement to tell you your next station.

You can charge your devices only on our highspeed trains. There are plug sockets under your seat, with additional USB ports.

If you see any plug sockets on a train that isn't next to a seat, please do not use them. They are for domestic purposes only, using a domestic plug socket may harm your device.

Smoking is banned from all areas of our stations and trains, this includes the full length of platforms and the entrances to our stations.

‘No smoking’ posters and signs are in place warning passengers about this.

Electronic cigarette devices cannot be used on our trains or at our stations either.

If your station is unmanned, you can visit our timetables page for more information.

For details of weekend train times use our online journey planner.

Poster displays and print-outs of our timetables are available at our stations. Please speak with a member of staff at the station if you're having trouble finding them.

Please visit our station information page to find the facilities at your local station. Scroll down the page to ‘Station Updates’.

These pages include live updates on our toilets, lifts and Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).

Brompton cycles or other folding cycles can be stored in the overhead storage compartments.

For cycles that can’t be stored away we do ask you please don’t obstruct doorways or aisles, lock it to any part of the train or leave it unattended.

If your bike is in a wheelchair space, you must remove it if a passenger using a wheelchair needs it.

For more information visit our bike policy page.

Due to safety concerns over a potential fire risk from batteries on both e-scooters and e-skateboards, we have banned them on our network.

As of 1 June 2023, our colleagues and customers cannot bring e-scooters and/or e-skateboards onto our stations or trains.

Regular scooters will still be allowed as long as they don’t have a fixed or removable battery power source.

The policy change will be in line with many other Train Operating Companies, as well as Transport for London.

For more information visit our e-scooters page.

Yes, man’s best friend can travel on Southeastern services. It’s free for up to two small dogs to travel. They must be on a lead, kept off the seats and not be a nuisance to other passengers.

For more information on our pets policy, please visit our policies page.

The luggage racks above seats are suitable for suitcases and bags which would normally fit into a plane’s overhead compartment.

Some services have specific space for larger suitcases, to check please call customer services on 0345 322 7021.

Our staff will help you with your luggage if they are able to.

The Southeastern highspeed runs between St Pancras International, Stratford International, Ebbsfleet International, and Ashford International. The highspeed Javelin trains will also run into Kent to destinations such as Medway, Whitstable, Maidstone, Canterbury, Folkestone, Dover, and Ramsgate.

If your journey involves you travelling on the highspeed route, your ticket will need to have the Plus High Speed route allowance on it. If you don't have the right ticket, you'll need to travel to or from another of our London Terminals.

If you're travelling on one of our highspeed Javelin trains on the mainlines in Kent, then you won't need the highspeed route allowance unless you also travel between St Pancras, Stratford, Ebbsfleet, or Ashford.

In order to travel on the Southeastern highspeed with a ticket that doesn't have a highspeed allowance, you can buy High Speed Upgrades from ticket machines and ticket offices at Southeastern stations.

If your journey takes you on the highspeed route but you're travelling through London to a destination elsewhere in the UK, then the ticket won't have the highspeed route on it, but will still be allowed. Always check your journey itinerary when buying the ticket.
