Easy travel with eTickets and The Key contactless smartcard

Avoid queues with digital train tickets

Digital tickets are an alternative to paper tickets and a great way to buy tickets anytime, anywhere, making it easier and more convenient to travel by train.

There are two choices of digital ticket available when you travel with Southeastern; eTickets which are emailed straight to your inbox, or our contactless smartcard The Key.

Why use a digital train ticket:

  • Avoid queues and save time: Buy digital tickets using the Southeastern app anytime, anywhere and avoid queuing for tickets at the station
  • Sustainable travel: Digital tickets mean less paper tickets
  • Easy to access: eTickets arrive by email and can be stored in your Apple Wallet (Google Wallet coming soon). Tickets bought for The Key can be viewed and loaded using the Southeastern app.

How do I access my tickets?

Your eTicket will be sent to your email inbox on your phone

Load tickets to The Key via the Southeastern app by simply holding your card to the back of your phone

Do I need to activate my ticket before travel? No, just scan at the barcode reader on the gate (where available) Flexi Season passes require activation using the Southeastern app before you travel
Can I buy multiple tickets? Yes, you can buy multiple eTickets for yourself and other travellers in one purchase You can buy up to 5 tickets on your Key card for your personal use

Contactless payments

Contactless payment cards and Apple Pay can be used to travel on most National Rail services in London. Contactless payment is also available on our high speed services between St Pancras International and Stratford International, plus, can be used for journeys to Dartford and Swanley which both fall within the London Fares Zones 1-9.

Oyster

Oyster is a smartcard which can hold pay as you go credit and Travelcards and they can be used on all National Rail services for journeys in London within the Fare Zones 1-9. Oyster can be used on our high speed services between St Pancras International and Stratford International, plus, can be used for journeys to Dartford and Swanley which both fall within the London Fares Zones 1-9.
