Autumn timetable from Sunday 13 October

We're making some small changes to our timetable this autumn.

From Sunday 13 October to Saturday 14 December, some morning trains will leave a few minutes earlier. You can check your journey in advance using the timetables above, or our online journey planner.

Why we’re changing the timetable

You wouldn’t think the humble leaf could cause so much trouble. 50 million leaves fall onto our tracks each autumn. When compressed under train wheels, they form a thin layer which can be as treacherous and slippery as black ice.

Our drivers need more time to stop and start the trains as the wheels have less grip on the tracks. These timetable changes give us the extra time we need to drive the trains safely.

We’re on the case

  • Managing hundreds of miles of trackside vegetation throughout the year
  • Running special leaf-busting trains throughout autumn that clean the rails using water jets and apply an adhesion modifier gel to help trains grip the rails
  • Adding a few minutes to journey times to give drivers more time to stop and start

Visit our autumn page to find out how, together with Network Rail, we prepare for autumn.

More than 220 extra services from 15 December

As our railway continues to grow, we are listening to your feedback, and have more changes planned later this year.

Our next timetable starts on Sunday 15 December and there will be an additional 44 services per day, totalling 220 per week.

This includes the introduction of 12 additional ‘rounder’ services on the Sidcup and Greenwich lines in the morning and evening peaks, improving access to the Elizabeth Line, as well as linking the Sidcup line with Cannon Street and New Cross.

These services will call at: Cannon Street, London Bridge, Deptford, Greenwich, Maze Hill, Westcombe Park, Charlton, Woolwich Dockyard, Woolwich Arsenal, Plumstead, Abbey Wood, Belvedere, Erith, Slade Green, Crayford, Bexley, Albany Park, Sidcup, New Eltham, Mottingham, Lee, Hither Green, St Johns, New Cross, London Bridge and Cannon Street.

We will also increase off-peak and evening stopping services between Victoria and Orpington via Herne Hill to provide trains every 15 minutes – enabling a ‘turn up and go’ Metro timetable.

Two evening services from Charing Cross to Maidstone East extended to Ashford International, calling at Bearsted, Hollingbourne, Harrietsham, Lenham and Charing.

These services should be available in online journey planners from Sunday 22 September, and we will publish more details here closer to that time.
