This winter, we’ll be running a Severe Winter Weather Timetable, but only on days when we expect heavier snow which freezes around the electric rail, preventing trains from drawing power or being able to move with any speed. And in the worst cases, preventing them from being able to move at all.

When this timetable is in place train times will be different, services will be much less frequent, and some stations will be closed. We recommend you avoid travelling.

We aim to give you a minimum of 24 hours’ notice on our website that the timetable will change. But we’ll also let you know that we may be changing the timetable 3 days’ in advance if we can, to give you time to plan.

Sometimes mother nature has other ideas and the weather changes from the forecast, which means we may need to change this planned timetable. We’ll do all we can to keep you up-to-date.

Check your journey up to 24 hours in advance via our journey planner. You can also follow us on Twitter for updates @SE_Railway #SEwinter

If you have any questions about the timetables, your journey options, tickets or delay repay, you can view FAQs on this page, as well as finding out how we prepare for winter weather.
