Performance results
Alongside Network Rail, we regularly set new goals to make sure we’re delivering a service that we can be proud of. Every year, we report on our progress to provide you with information on our performance and achievements.
Punctuality is hugely important to us because we know how frustrating delays and cancellations can be.
We monitor how punctual our services are by using the Public Performance Measure (PPM). PPM is measured by the percentage of trains we run on time against our planned timetable. For this purpose, only trains that run their entire planned route and arrive within five minutes of their planned arrival time are considered on time.
We publish reports on our punctuality online as well as on station posters at the end of each rail period.
Period 10: 9 December 2018 to 5 January 2019
Overall performance
- Performance on average this period: 86.8%
- Performance on average over the last year: 87.9%
Train punctuality targets
Together with Network Rail, we set ourselves punctuality targets to help us monitor our performance and identify what improvements we need to make.
Targets are set according to seasons and lines of route. This helps to account for major infrastructure improvement works, such as the Thameslink Programme, and external factors like poor weather.
