May 2019 Timetable

May 2019 Timetable

Passengers on key Southeastern routes between London, Maidstone, Canterbury and the Kent Coast are set to benefit from journey time reductions of up to four minutes, with early morning commuters from Gravesend also benefiting from two new services.

The main changes in our May 2019 will mean passengers across our network will benefit from:

  • Timetable changes will take between 1-4 minutes off many journeys between London, Maidstone, Canterbury and the Kent Coast
  • Services made more regular and fewer long gaps between trains at various points on the network
  • A small number of additional stops and services added on other routes to meet passenger needs

Our new timetable starts on Sunday 19 May, this is now available to view and download below.

The timetable changes are all now live on online journey planners, including the Southeastern and National Rail websites, with printed timetable booklets available from Southeastern stations and from Customer Services in the week commencing April 8.

The following routes and their stations will benefit from journey time reductions, or other changes, on some or all of the services that call there (note this list is not exhaustive);

Additional stops for passengers at stations between Maidstone and Strood – allowing better connections to fast services into London nearly 30 minutes earlier in the morning.

When will these changes be implemented?

Our new timetable starts on 19th May 2019

How will it affect me?

Depending on which station you use, you may see faster journey times, new services calling at your stop, or trains calling at more regular intervals. Alternatively, you may live on part of the network which is mostly unaffected by the changes we are making.

A number of passengers may also see the time of their daily train service change by a few minutes and it’s worth checking our journey planner to see how you will be affected.

Will there be disruption when this is implemented?

These changes will be on a much smaller scale than May 2018, when a number of train operators implemented comprehensive, far-reaching timetable changes. We expect disruption to be minimal and we plan to run a normal service during the implementation of these changes.

When will I be able to see the new timetable?

The new timetables will be published in April. You can already see how this will affect your journey by checking our journey planner or using National Rail Enquiries.

Will I get a chance to submit feedback about these changes?

Our timetable is planned and coordinated with Network Rail and other train operators and therefore we are unfortunately unable to consider any further feedback in time for May this year.

However, we will be consulting our passengers again later this year ahead of our next round of timetable changes in December 2019.

Why aren’t there any improvements from my station?

We received over 400 pieces of feedback and where possible we revised our proposals to account for this feedback. Unfortunately, it’s not always possible to change our timetable to suit everyone.

Our timetable is planned to balance the needs of passengers across the whole network and this process involves careful consideration and compromise. Our guiding principle is to deliver the most benefit to the greatest number of passengers.

Will these changes alleviate crowding?

Our train fleet is fully deployed, so we are looking to ensure services are planned as efficiently as possible to accommodate the current levels of usage.

These timetable changes will make services more regular and reduce long gaps in service provision at several points on the network, which will help spread usage more evenly on these routes.

What if I have other questions about the changes?

We would be happy to answer any further questions you have about these changes. Please contact our customer service team.
