Javelin® service officially commenced

Date: 27 Jul 2012

The Javelin® service officially commenced today with the first train departing St Pancras International station this morning.

The Javelin® service will provide eight trains an hour between St Pancras, Stratford and Ebbsfleet International stations; and:

  • 12 trains per hour between 23:00 – 01:59
  • An overnight ½ hourly shuttle from 02:00 to 05:00 between St Pancras and Stratford only.

A Southeastern spokesman said: “Up to 25,000 people an hour could be transported to and from Stratford and St Pancras International stations on the Javelin® service at peak times, in less than seven minutes.

“While the Javelin® is by far the fastest way to get to the Olympic Park, the service will be exceptionally busy at times so allow plenty of time to travel as queues will be in place.”

The Games Travelcard is valid on the Javelin® shuttle service between Stratford and St Pancras International. Spectators holding a Games Travelcard but travelling from stations outside of the Travelcard area can purchase a special ticket in advance to cover their travel into London. The 2012 Games Train Tickets are only available from nationalrailgamestravel.co.uk

The Javelin® service will run from Friday 27 July until Sunday 12 August and for the Paralympics the service will commence on Wednesday 29 August - Sunday 9 September.
