Eversholt Rail Group has successfully completed a programme of £45 million investment lasting two years on its Class 465 Fleet Half Life Repair Programme.
Eversholt Rail’s investment on the Class 465/0 and 465/1 97 units, has delivered the overhaul of door systems; air system; couplings and trailer bogies. Eversholt Rail’s integrated programme approach has enabled these works to be successfully accomplished, acknowledging the operational planning and service availability needs.
“The success of this refurbishment programme is due to the collaborative working by Railcare and Southeastern with Eversholt Rail. This programme reflects Eversholt Rail’s ongoing commitment to fleet management and investment in its assets,” said Mary Kenny, Chief Executive Officer for Eversholt Rail (UK) Limited.
Wayne Jenner, engineering director for Southeastern said: “Southeastern operates one of the busiest commuter networks in the UK, with over 2200 train services carrying 570,000 passengers a day.
“The heavy maintenance programme on the 465s was a big job that required an intensive project management plan, and this could not have been achieved without the sheer hard work and professionalism of the individuals involved.
“We’re pleased to see the programme is now complete, it means far greater reliability, less train faults and an improved service for our passengers.”
Jamie Borgeat, Commercial Director for Railcare said, “The Class 465 refurbishment programme has been a significant part of Railcare’s success for the last 2 years. Much of this achievement grew from the effective project management control maintained throughout the project, aided by close co-operation between all three companies and key suppliers. The successful execution of the project is a real credit to the project teams of Railcare, Eversholt and Southeastern.”
