Correction re article published Wednesday 8 September.
An article published by the Evening Standard on 8 September incorrectly states that Southeastern High Speed trains have been taken out of service for what they describe as a ‘wobble’.
The facts of this story are incorrect, the Evening Standard have published a correction after we sent them the letter below.
Southeastern
Dear Sir/Madam
Yesterday’s issue referred to Southeastern’s High Speed trains being taken out of service due to a ‘wobble’. This is inaccurate.
Since their introduction in December 2009 the high speed trains have become the most popular commuter service in the country, with 95% customer satisfaction rating in the last independent National Passenger Survey. Three months ago we started a modification programme to alleviate some sideways movement which was happening on some trains when travelling on parts of HS1.
It is important to say that there was no safety risk and only noticeable to some passengers. The modification programme will be completed in the next couple of months.
This work is being done as part of routine maintenance all trains undertake. At no time has a train been taken out of service to do this work.We have been running, and will continue to run a normal service each day.
Yours faithfully,
Southeastern
