We want to provide you with an environmentally-friendly train service, because we believe in green public transport. Rail travel is one of the most environmentally-friendly forms of transport. So it’s important we enable as many people as possible to have easy access to our services. But that’s just the start.
Since 2007 we’ve been committed to ensuring continual improvement in our practices – aiming to perform over and above our legislative and regulatory requirements; working with our industry partners, contractors and suppliers to reduce our impact throughout the supply chain; and measuring and reporting environmental performance to monitor our progress towards pre-defined targets.
This Environment Plan is structured around four areas: reducing electricity and gas consumption by investing in green technologies, tackling waste by reducing, re-using and recycling as much as possible, being considerate to our surroundings, and the part our employees play in reducing the environmental impact of our activities.
